Context: Sketching can extend beyond a piece of paper to illustrate an idea. This paper examines how toolkits and electronics can be used as a form of sketching for designers to play around with ideas and to create questions that can be answered in further refined prototypes. This paper also highlights the concerns of focussing too much on technical challenges, honing in on one skill set, and spending too much time producing rather refined prototypes even though the sketch has been answered.
