Please note that this is a blog. You should always visit our official website at www.ocadu/prospective_students to be sure you have the most specific and up to date information available.  The information below is a guideline to get you started for the Undergraduate programs.

Anyone interested in attending the Undergraduate Bachelor programs at OCAD U needs to begin the admission process by filling out an online application through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) www.ouac.on.ca. Applications are available through OUAC  and are due February 1st, each year. We only have a September intake of students for all programs.

Admission to OCAD U is primarily based on the strength of a student’s portfolio, therefore once we receive an application we organize a time for the portfolio to be assessed in February. If you cannot attend your assessment in person you will need to mail your portfolio submission into the University or complete an online digital portfolio using slideroom.com.  The portfolio will need to arrive at OCAD U a minimum of one week before the date you are assigned.

Be sure to read through our admissions process step by step here.

The portfolio guidelines and information about what to include can be found here.

Please note that DIGITAL FUTURES and the BA IN VISUAL AND CRITICAL STUDIES have slightly different portfolio/application guidelines.

If the portfolio is strong an applicant will earn a conditional offer of admission.  A conditional offer becomes final once an applicant meets OCAD U’s academic requirements.  Academic requirements vary depending on your unique situation. Find out more here.

If you have completed at least one year in a similar Art or Design post-secondary program, you may be eligible to apply for Upper Year and considered for placed in 2nd or 3rd year at OCAD U. Students who have any previous Post-Secondary may be eligible for Transfer Credits as well. Information about the Prior Learning Assessment for Advanced Standing and Transfer Credits can be found here.
