Guests at a past GradEx

Sent to all students, faculty and staff on Tuesday, May 12, 2020

Dear members of the OCAD University community,

We are excited to announce the membership of the GradEx 105 Task Force and share some information regarding the work that is ahead of us.

GradEx has been one of the cornerstones of OCAD University’s identity and reflects the University’s commitment to showcasing and celebrating the creative talent of its graduates. Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President Academic, the task force is committed to honouring this legacy. We acknowledge that we live in this extraordinary time of a global pandemic and that the health and wellness of our community are of utmost importance as we seek to reimagine and develop the unifying and resourceful vision and plans for GradEx 105.

During the last couple of weeks, we have worked to confirm the task force membership and have been in regular conversations with the Provost, as well as other stakeholders including IT Services, Marketing & Communications, Advancement, OCADSU and the Centre for Emerging Artists and Designers. Our program chairs and graduate program directors have provided important input regarding various ongoing and emerging exhibition initiatives in their programs.

We recognize the unique situation of our international students who may be abroad. We have been also in dialogue with some external partners who are keen to contribute and inform the efforts of the task force. Moreover, we are committed to continue working in this consultative way and engage graduating students and the lead faculty members from all OCAD U programs.

The task force will begin its work this week through virtual meetings and discussion forums. Please stay tuned for more information regarding the community consultations and updates.

Our goal is to make a recommendation to the Provost and the President in June and to arrive together at a vision that is inclusive, inspiring and respectful of our graduates.

Thank you all for your efforts, resilience and patience as we undertake this important work.
