Meet a 2021 Peer Mentor:

My name is Bhavana Jalali (she/her). I’m a Material Art & Design (MAAD) student in my third year and wish to specialise in both jewellery and textiles. I am currently in Toronto, Canada.

This will be my first Peer Mentor experience, and I couldn’t be more excited about it! Due to COVID and the special circumstances we are under, I believe the Student Mentor Program has become even more crucial than it already was. And I am here to provide support to my new student mentees and welcome them into our OCAD U community.

Vineyard Vibrance by Bhavana Jalali

I enjoy learning about and being inspired by different cultures to create textile designs that also resonate well with my personal style. The pandemic has affected our studio practices, but also made us self-reliant. We now find ways of arranging mini studios within our households with the tools we can access. Yet, I do look forward to when the university will open. I’m sure everyone will value studio time a lot more now, ready to implement ideas gathered while away from it!
