Meet a 2021 Peer Mentor:

Hola! My name is Luis Cisneros (ze/hir) and I’m a non-binary Mexican/Canadian artist. This will be my third year of Sculpture/Installation and I’m so excited to return as a Peer Mentor. Currently I’m  living in Belleville, Ontario, but hoping to come back to Toronto for this coming school year.

Being part of both Mexican and Canadian cultures, I explore in my artwork the ideas of land, race, immigration, identity, family dynamics and queerness. My diaspora experiences are reflected in my pieces by using figurative symbolism and self-portraits creating narratives of multiculturalism. Predominantly I work in sculpture and painting but I also work with film where I render themes of Mexican and Canadian culture highlighting my identity. I can’t wait to meet you and help in everything that I can!
