Programs and Services Available for Students at the Writing & Learning Centre

February 27th, 2012 · No Comments · General Posts

The Writing & Learning Centre is pleased to offer services for OCAD University students during the upcoming Winter Term. We provide one-to-one tutoring, daily drop-in sessions for quick writing questions, and specialized tutoring for Thesis year work, ESL students, and Graduate students.  The WLC also offers Study Group Sessions for select first-year Liberal Studies courses, a weekly drop-in program in the Learning Zone, on-line resources, and printed handouts.  Our tutors are trained in effective writing pedagogy and provide friendly, student-centred services for diverse skill levels.

We work with students at all stages of the writing process to develop a variety of learning and academic skills – students can work on essays, artist statements and proposals, critical reading strategies, time management, organizing ideas, research methods, thesis writing, and more. While we do not edit student work, we will work with students so that they learn to edit their own work.

Demand for our services is high and appointments often fill up quickly. We encourage Faculty to remind students to contact us early and make appointments well in advance of their assignment deadlines – it is never too early to start working on a piece of writing!

Students can call 416-977-6000 ext. 229, or email wlc@ocadu.ca, or drop by in person to make an appointment.  We are located at 113 McCaul Street, on Level Five, in Room 1510.  You can also visit the Writing & Learning Centre Website at: http://www.ocadu.ca/students/wlc.htm
