TOUCH ME NOT

PROJECT NAME :

TOUCH ME NOT

OBJECTIVE

This device is aimed at couples dating in their early stages of their relationship. Whereby person A and person B have gone out for a lovely dinner, and now it’s time to go home. Yet there’s this awkwardness in the air as the couple have detached intentions from one another. This is where our product comes into practice.

We created a garment that is designed to tackle this. It’s created with conductive fabric and allows users to ward off unwanted physical activity on parts of their body. Thus, if this area is breached a buzzer will alarm knowing that one’s significant other has crossed the line, causing a friendly ice-breaker to the situation and perhaps some giggles

STORY

So Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water. Jack touched Jill, and Jill got scared, but her touch me not stepped in here. The buzzer went off, and so did Jack and everything ended in giggles. But this didn’t ruin the mood, in fact only made it more playful. Turning into a game to find all the buzzers, one thing lead to another.

PROCESS

We were not able to find the conductive thread in black. To prevent the grey conductive stitches be visible, we used black thread to build the path from the conductive fabric to the sensors and the batteries. Then we used this path to make stitches that connects the electronic components from inside.

FUTURE

For future alteration and possibilities, we were thinking of making more interactive designs that cover wider ranges of body. The idea behind Touch Me Not is that the user can adjust and deactivate some of the sensors according to their comfort. One can take all the batteries out to deactivate all the sensors or can have a few on to keep certain parts of their body protected. We wanted to keep the design subtle and gender neutral.
