This device is aimed at couples dating in their early stages of their relationship. Whereby person A and person B have gone out for a lovely dinner, and now it’s time to go home. Yet there’s this awkwardness in the air as the couple have detached intentions from one another. This is where our product comes into practice.
We created a garment that is designed to tackle this. It’s created with conductive fabric and allows users to ward off unwanted physical activity on parts of their body. Thus, if this area is breached a buzzer will alarm knowing that one’s significant other has crossed the line, causing a friendly ice-breaker to the situation and perhaps some giggles
STORY
So Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water. Jack touched Jill, and Jill got scared, but her touch me not stepped in here. The buzzer went off, and so did Jack and everything ended in giggles. But this didn’t ruin the mood, in fact only made it more playful. Turning into a game to find all the buzzers, one thing lead to another.
PROCESS
We were not able to find the conductive thread in black. To prevent the grey conductive stitches be visible, we used black thread to build the path from the conductive fabric to the sensors and the batteries. Then we used this path to make stitches that connects the electronic components from inside.
FUTURE
For future alteration and possibilities, we were thinking of making more interactive designs that cover wider ranges of body. The idea behind Touch Me Not is that the user can adjust and deactivate some of the sensors according to their comfort. One can take all the batteries out to deactivate all the sensors or can have a few on to keep certain parts of their body protected. We wanted to keep the design subtle and gender neutral.
BuzzerFLY is a ‘hello’ wearable device kit that helps connect with a partner/partners to create a body sculpture. The wearer can define where the BuzzerFly is placed. This will also act as a visual contact point for the other user.
The idea behind this product is for its wearers to be able to define the spot where they wish to connect physically with the other user/users and feel comfortable while creating body sculptures that are guided by body postures or even in some cases a simple ‘hello’ situation for two users, such as in a university greeting party or at a conference.
Alternatively, in a dance performance, the background music or sound effects are triggered by the interaction between dancers. There could be one dancer wearing the “active” part of BuzzerFLY while other dancers wearing the “passive” part representing different tunes. In that scenario, the buzzer is replaced with a more sophisticated sound-making device.

the buzzer battery and the +ve and –ve plates are all integrated as one piece while the circuit connector is integrated in a second piece. These two pieces come together to complete the circuit.
In the future envisaged by this assignment, people have lost the ability to connect with each other in the immediate physical world without the use of electronic devices. In such a world everyday communications become difficult especially when one considers just how much of human communication is non-verbal and dependant on more subtle social cues such as a twitch of the eye or a genuine smile. How can designers develop wearable social technologies that can enhance immediate physical communications using technological aids?
In our experiment we decided to focus on the social interaction of play. Play is an important part of human interaction as it facilitates both learning and positive social experiences. A world without play is a bleak one indeed, and so we developed an electronic aid to facilitate the common childhood game of Thumb Wars. In Thumb Wars the object of the game is for players to clasp each others’ hands using their four fingers, and then to finesse their free and available thumbs to pin the opponent’s thumb down to win the game. As shown below we developed a special glove with electronic components to facilitate the game of Thumb Wars where players must press down their opponent’s thumb into an exposed piece of conductive fabric to close the circuit and ring the buzzer to signal victory and defeat.
Circuit Diagram
Below is a diagram demonstrating the circuits in each of the two gloves. To close the circuit and ring the buzzer, one can either press their opponent’s thumb into the exposed conductive fabric found on either their own or their opponent’s glove. The circuit is simple including only a 3V battery, conductive fabric, conductive thread, and a 3V buzzer.

The focus cap is a ‘more stick, less carrot’ approach to getting people off their cell phones and back into the moment. We are all guilty of checking our phones at inappropriate times — perhaps in a class, a long meeting, or even out at dinner with a friend.
The focus cap is a simple device that initiates an annoying buzzer sound, whenever the user assumes posture that suggests they are looking down at their phone. The user can opt in to this device as a self policing agent, a second incentive to help with one’s lack of willpower.
Parts list
Each unit is made up of the following:
1 buzzer, 1 battery holder, 2 AA 1.5 volt batteries, Copper tape, Corrugated paper, 1 baseball cap.
In a not too distant dystopic future, where everyone is glued to their devices at all waking hours, we have created this revolutionary system based on the classical interaction called footsie. By wearing this wonderful pair of exciting socks both you and your loved one can engage in a purring, interactive foot massage that allows users to continue using their devices while relaxing and enjoying each others touch. For extra excitement sleep in them so that you can wake your partner in the night with a purring vibration.

Parts List:
1 x 3V Coin Cell Battery
1 x 20mm Sewable Coin Cell Battery
2 x Small Lillypad Prototyping Board
2 x DC Vibration Motor
conductive thread
2x socks
conductive material
(iron, scissors, needle, regular thread)
We chose vibration motors for our sound because we wanted the combination of the subtle inviting purring sound with the enhanced sensation of touch that is caused by the vibrations.
‘Spice’
By Sara GazzazSpice is a wearable collar that explores intimacy between two people (new lovers, old lovers). It’s intended to give people another avenue for expressing tenderness to another – specifically by the strength of your breath during intimacy! 🙂
It’s not something that one would necessarily wear every day, but people could put on their collars when they want to “communicate” this way.
It has to do with exploring/enhancing connections between people.
How it works:
A row of feathers or flower petals are attached to independent circuits
A light spring keeps each of the feathers from touching a metal stopper that closes its circuit [off position]
When breath is directed on the leaf, it pushes the flower’s metal spring against a metal stopper, closing the circuit [on position], sending a signal to a Lillypad Arduino board
The signal causes a piezo to play a note (and maybe also trigger a vibration sensor)
Each flower circuit creates its own individual note
When multiple circuits are closed concurrently, a buzzer is played
When circuits are closed sequentially, musical scores are played.
As possible future iterations we have also considered creating a gesture based interaction on elastic back supports. Whereby one’s improper posture can lead to long term back problems, this device intends to rectify their posture as reminders every time the user slouches. This will be determined by a flex sensor as well.
This collar’s purpose is to spice up an intimate night between you and your partner. It is a playful way to intimacy that can be used to intensify your sensual night. Your significant other would eventually attempt to blow and kiss you on your neck, whereby this device will prevent an unwanted outcome, or delay it further. There’s more fun in the adventure than the destination itself!
