Wearable + Technology + Social

Here are my three projects that involve wearable technology in a social way. Each and every one of them totally creeped me out. Make sure to follow the links to catch full descriptions, additional images and videos!

Improve your social interactions

“…a series of wearable devices that use sensors to condition the behavior of the wearer to better adapt to expected social behaviors.” Essentially, the project ‘trains’ wearers to act a certain way in certain social situations.

Because your smartphone wasn’t enough?

“Ping is a garment that connects to your Facebook account wirelessly and from anywhere. It allows you to stay connected with your friends and groups of friends simply by preforming natural gestures that are build into the mechanics of the garments we wear. Lift up a hood, tie a bow, zip, button, and simply move, bend and wing to ping your friends naturally and automatically. No phone, no laptop, no hardware. Simply go about your day, look good and stay connected.”

Emotional data

In conjunction with Canadian company RIM Blackberry, two designers came up with a mobile phone + biometrics ring that works in conjunction to integrate emotions and social networking. The ring collects ‘emotional data’ that alters connections with socially-networked contacts.
