On March 6th 2018, eleven OCAD U Graduate students presented their research in three minutes or less, competing for the top prize in this year’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. After long and thoughtful deliberation, our panel of guest judges declared the winners. The judges found the top two contenders to be in a virtual tie for first place. To acknowledge this, Graduate Studies allocated $750 to each of the top two presenters.
1st Place: Afrooz Samaei, DF: “Learning Abstract Symbolic Mathematics through Digital Games.”
1st Place runner-up: Theresa Lee, INCD: “Bridging 2 Worlds: Creating a hybrid makerspace for teens with autism.”
2nd Place: Alana Boltwood, SFI: “Causation Model.”
Peoples Choice: Teresa Lee, INC: “Bridging 2 Worlds: Creating a hybrid makerspace for teens with autism.”
Afrooz Samaei will go on to represent OCAD U at the 2018 Provincial Finals 3MT Competition at York University on Thursday, April 19th, 2018. Afrooz will receive $750, presentation coaching from Dr. David Bateman, and travel support to attend the provincial finals.
