The exhibition explores the relationship between poetry and visual imagery in the work of Canadian and Taiwanese visual artists.

Twenty-one Canadian and twenty-one Taiwanese artists were invited by curator Carlina Chen and Chi-Cheng Hsief of Taiwan to create new imagery in response to a selection of poems by Claire Caldwell, Anne Carson, Patrick Lane (Canada), Wang Feng-Hsiang and Yu Kwang-Chung (Taiwan).

Working on paper, they responded in painting, drawing, print-making and collage, producing a vibrant body of imagery that exemplifies both the complexities and continuities in the visual and literary interchange between these two cultures.

During the opening ceremony of the exhibition, there will be a poetry reading by Claire Caldwell and a spoken word performances by Bojana Videkanic with remarks by Julie Hannaford, Deputy Chief Librarian, University of Toronto Libraries, and Hana Kim, director, Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library, the Michael Chen, Deputy Director-General, Taipei Econimic and Culture Office in Toronto, and Carlina Chen, Curator of the exhibition, Line & Verse.
