Are you a student interested in furthering your engagement with academia, networking with international scholars, and meeting other passionate students? Do you seek out dynamic environments saturated with literature, fashion, art, culture, and ideas? Consider volunteering at the Modernist Studies Association Toronto 2019 Conference, an annual international event that explores the latest research in Modernist studies, attended by leading global scholars from diverse fields of study. This year the conference will be held at the Chelsea Hotel from October 17th-20th, with accompanying events taking place in the surrounding area of Toronto’s downtown core.
There are multiple positions available, which offer varying types and capacities of involvement. Training will be provided for all roles, which include:
- Registration and Information Desk
- Walking Tour Guide
- Event Facilitator
- A/V Assistance
- Set up and Tear Down
- Tote-bag Maker
Volunteering provides the opportunity to interact with international guests and share your knowledge of the city, augment your technological skills, work with like-minded students and peers and learn about the behind the scenes marketing and infrastructure that goes into the success of a large-scale conference, all while being immersed in a professional academic setting. Facilitated by the Modern Literature and Culture Research Centre at Ryerson University, this tremendous learning experience brings individuals together in an environment that fosters teamwork and collaboration.
If you would like to participate in a weekend of academic discussion and current debates surrounding Modernist scholarship, media, race, gender and sexuality studies, we invite you to email email@example.com by no later than September 25 expressing your interest.
