OCAD U students and recent grads are invited to attend this employer information session, led by Naomi Fraser, Senior Analyst at Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). Attend this session to learn about the ESDC’s work, who they serve, and the mandate of the Department and its programs, such as Employment Insurance, Labour, Education Savings, and Student Loans.
Bring your questions and learn how the ESDC is interested in hiring OCAD U graduates and the skills and experience that they are looking for.
Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) works to improve the standard of living and quality of life for all Canadians. They do this by promoting a labour force that is highly skilled and by addressing social challenges like homelessness, poverty, inclusion, and social involvement.
The ESDC’s programs include:
Employment Insurance, Skills training programs, Youth Employment Strategy, Apprenticeship Grants, Canada Student Loans, Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, Homelessness Partnering Strategy, Poverty Reduction Strategy, New Horizons for Seniors, Office for Disability Issues, and many more.
Naomi Fraser is a Senior Analyst with the Canada Student Loans Program in ESDC. She recently joined the Government of Canada after spending over a decade making government work for young people in various positions with the Government of Ontario. She approaches her work in policy development with a deep curiosity for solving complex problems and a lifelong interest in exploring the intersections of politics, technology, and social change.
