Congratulations to Shauna Jean Doherty on Receiving the Joan Yvonne Lowndes Award.
Shauna Jean Doherty is a new media art curator and critic. Her writing and exhibitions explore the often disruptive impacts of digital technologies on artistic practices and the art market.
Recently, she taught curatorial practice at the graduate level at Ontario College of Art & Design University.
Currently, she is working on an online and onsite exhibition in collaboration with InterAccess that features some of the earliest Canadian digital art ever made.
Doherty’s curatorial projects have been exhibited in artist-run centers and regional galleries across Canada. She has participated in media art intensives in Germany and France, and her written work has been published in English, French and Russian.
The Joan Yvonne Lowndes Award is given to an independent professional critic or curator in contemporary visual and media arts in recognition of the outstanding quality of his or her work.
