A Fall Start to our New Hours

 

Welcome back to the Learning Zone everyone! Our regular operating hours have returned this week.

The LZ will be hosting student exhibitions, workshops and events throughout the year as well as the return of the P.O.D. Program: weekly peer drop-in sessions; Money Mondays: 10 Steps to Financial Fitness, free financial advice to students and grads; xpace: External Space, a digital media exhibition space which exhibits new artworks monthly.

The Learning Zone has joined the OCAD U community in the following green initiatives such as the Windowfarm garden project by grOCAD as well as the Greening the Grange re-usable dish exchange program called Plate Station – working together to help reduce the usage of plastic/styrafoam packaging in the Grange.

Drop by to study or relax and visit our unique collection of zines from our Zine Library and Design Annuals. We look forward to seeing everyone again.

LZ Fall Hours: Monday to Thursday: 9 – 9 pm; Friday: 9 – 6 pm; Saturday & Sunday: 12 – 5 pm. Closed October 14 Thanksgiving

XPACE: External Space: Twitch by Aryen Hoekstra

Aryen Hoestra’s three second video loop called Twitch is currently on exhibition at the XPACE: External Space gallery hosted by the Learning Zone.

Hoestra edited previously shot video footage at the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada, creating a three second loop, tightly framing a close-up image of a donkey’s twitching ear.

it’s endless repetitions, allow for a potentially mesmerizing engagement narrowing the viewer’s focus to one simple movement – the twitch of the donkey’s ear…

XPACE Cultural Centre is a non-profit artist-run centre supported by its membership and the OCADU Student Union. XPACE programming focuses on contemporary practice and reflects the work created by its membership.

Money Mondays: 10 Steps to Financial Fitness

Money Mondays : 10 Steps to Financial Fitness has returned to the Learning Zone offering freeĀ financial planning for students and grads, on Mondays through November 18, 2 – 3pm.

Join us September 23rd for the next session: Step 2. Set Financial Goals

Learn why your values are essential to goal-setting, and what makes for a successful goal. Identify three of your own, research their costs, timeframes and steps to achieving them.

Get control of your finances, plan for the future so that you can do what you love!

P.O.D. (Peer-Mentor on Duty) at the Learning Zone

The Learning Zone welcomes back P.O.D. (Peer-Mentor on Duty) Program for another semester of informal drop-in sessions. It provides a forum for peer led discussion to foster collaborative team building projects.

Sessions are held four times a week.
