Marc Losier is a Toronto-based artist, whose work revives histories, documents, and materials as a means of destabilizing standpoints and perceptions. He has participated in visual arts residencies at The Banff Centre and the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, California, and his works have been exhibited in both Canada and the United States. In 2013, he was the recipient of a Toronto Arts Council emerging visual artist award, and has been awarded Visual Artist Project Grants from both the Ontario Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts in 2015 for his on-going project, Échange (Exchange)/Post(e). He currently teaches at OCAD University and has previously taught at Ryerson University’s School of Image arts, as well as the San Francisco Art Institute as a visiting faculty member in Photography.
Losier is co-founder and co-director of the inaugural 2015 Art Camp with artists Robyn Cumming and Jennifer Long, a free visual arts residency that brings together a select group of students from OCAD University and the School of Image Arts during the summer for workshops, field trips, studio visits with contemporary artists, and a group exhibition at the Gladstone Hotel Ryerson Artspace.
