Prefix Photo: Call for Work

Prefix Photo’s call for submissions deadline is quickly approaching! Please consider submitting your work before January 1, 2016 for consideration for our upcoming issue.

Prefix Photo encourages submissions of new or previously unpublished photographic, media and digital art for editorial consideration. Submissions should include up to 20 digital image files with an accompanying list of work, a written description of the work and a curriculum vitae of the artist. Submissions are accepted on an ongoing basis and are reviewed twice annually: January 1 and July 1. Proposals from young and emerging artists and from artists from all cultural and regional communities of Canada are particularly encouraged.

Guidelines for digital submissions:
– 72 dpi resolution
– a maximum of 1024 x 768 pixels
– each file should be no larger than 500K (0.5MB)
– please number and label each file with your name, surname and the title of the work

Sell your work at the Union Station Holiday Marketplace

On Nov 30th the Union Station Holiday Marketplace opened, along with an adorable booth called Working It that represents OCAD U Photography, Publishing & Printmaking students!  As noted by blogto.com there are lots of affordable and delightful options for sale!

It you would like to add your prints or objects to the booth (note: 20% will be taken off for administrative costs), please contact Jenn Long at jlong@faculty.ocadu.ca before Friday, Dec 11th.  We are looking for bright and eye catching objects (buttons, multiples, books…) and prints (4×5 and 5×7 prints sell at $5, 8×10 prints sell at $20) to add to our collection!

The market will continue until Dec 20th.  Unsold artworks will be ready for pick up at the start of the  Winter semester and payments for sold work will given in late January 2016.

 

Instagram: Call for OCAD U Student Work

December 20th, 5pm as the deadline to submit your work for posting on the Photography Program’s Instagram account!  The concept for this account is to showcase the works of our students and department in an on-line portfolio.  It will act as a tool to help promote our students outside the university while also representing the strength of our program.

Call for submission:

Open to all students in the Photography Department regardless of year or stream.  Please submit works!!!  (Note: at least one image from every submission will be selected.)

What We Need:

-send us 5 images to select from

-file size 10 by 10 inches at 100 dpi

-file type .jpg

-please caption your images as follows:

Artist Name, Title of work, Year of work, Year of study, @insta username #ocadu_photo
example: Joe Brown, Untitled, 2015, 4th year photo, @joebrown #ocadu_photo

-if your images are landscape or portrait format please adjust the canvas size and include a white border.

-Images should be colour corrected and sized appropriately.  We will not make any aesthetic decisions on your behalf.


When Do We Need It?

Deadline for the second round of submissions is Dec 20th, 5pm.  Sooner is better!

Vistek’s Student Photographer of the Year award!

Vistek is pleased to announce that we have partnered with the Greater Toronto Council of Camera Clubs (GTCCC) to create a 2015 ‘Student Photographer of the Year’ award.  The award is part a unique competition for students enrolled in photography courses and is designed to celebrate the creative works of young emerging photographers.

We are asking students to send in 3 photos, with water either as the theme or included in the image.  Submitted photos must be taken from January 1st – December 31st, 2015 – Deadline for submission is February 1st, 2016. 

All contest details, as well as the application form and the upload service, are on the GTCCC website – http://www.gtccc.ca/student2015/.

Entries will be judged in March and the winner will be invited to attend an award night ceremony, on April 2, 2016, to receive their award and prizes.
