Co-designing Solutions

Design Abroad is an exciting course at OCAD University offering students a unique opportunity to travel abroad and work with local communities to co-design solutions that have a meaningful impact. This intensive three-week course allows students to gain an in-depth understanding of the local culture through exploration, observation, and other design tools.

Working in groups, as well as individually, students engage with organizations and members of the community to identify challenges and possible solutions. Students then integrate what they have learned through this participatory design process to develop design solutions that are innovative, appropriate, and implementable.

The goal is to help shape flexible, resourceful, and independent designers and thinkers who know how to engage a community in the design process in order to create lasting solutions.
