Welcome to 2017! It’s that time of year when many of us are setting resolutions to guide us through the year to come. Maybe one of yours is to find a job. Or maybe you already have a job (about 45% of first-year OCAD U students work while studying, and by fourth-year, that jumps to over 80%*), but you’re looking to make a switch to something more in line with your creative career aspirations. Or maybe you’re wondering about ways to earn academic credit while also obtaining real-world working experience.
That’s where OCAD University’s Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers comes in. The Centre supports the early-career advancement of our students and recent alumni through a range of both academic and co-curricular services that are offered by the Career Development office and Experiential Learning Program. These include facilitated learning experiences, skill-building resources and events, and meaningful opportunities situated in practice.
Whether you’re looking for work, looking for better-aligned employment, or looking for a way to earn academic credit and professional work experience during the curriculum, make some time to introduce yourself to the good folks over in the CEAD. Help them get to know you, and you’ll have a greater chance to open that fantastic door to opportunity.
All the best for a prosperous, career-launching new year!
