Yes, they are. You heard that right. The Fabrication studios — where they are currently located — are closing temporarily starting April 24, 2019 to be renovated. They’ll open again for the Winter 2020 term in January.
Our Projects team has been working hard to make as much detail available as possible. Starting this week, a kiosk devoted to this information can be browsed in the lobby of 100 McCaul St. You can look at diagrams, see lists of what equipment will be available where, and see some early concept sketches. Watch the kiosk for ongoing updates.
This information has also been posted to the Creative City Campus website. You’ll note that for every studio or facility that’s closing, an accommodation plan is in place to relocate as much of that studio’s services and equipment as possible. The team is also working on the development of a plan for accommodating students’ needs that are not met during the renovations through partnerships with other organizations and maker spaces. Details on this program will be announced closer to the start of renovations.
If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the team, which includes my Manager of Student Communications, Sarah Mulholland. The team can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
