Earlier in this month we marked Bike Month and Bike to Work Day with a small but mighty OCAD U group commute for a pancake breakfast in Nathan Phillips Square at City Hall, where we met lots of other avid cyclist commuters.
We also held Bikes in Butterfield, a cycling advocacy day with mechanics from BikeChain at UofT and Charlie’s FreeWheels who conducted safety checks and helped many members of our community get a little more intimate with the mechanical workings of their two-wheelers. You can access BikeChain and Charlie’s FreeWheels for additional support in learning how to fix and maintain your own bike (Charlie’s supports youth up to age 25 years). Special thanks also to our guests BikePoc, Foodsters United, the City of Toronto Cycling Unit, to Campus Life, OCADSU and the Office of Diversity, Equity & Sustainability Initiatives for organizing, and to our real estate partner Hullmark, for their sponsorship!
We’re hoping to bring Bikes in Butterfield back during Safety & Wellness Day at Orientation, so watch for those announcements to come soon. In the meantime, cycle safely, OCAD U!
