Meet a 2021 Peer Mentor:

“Hi! I’m Tina Giang and I’m a fourth-year Illustration student, currently located in Toronto. This is my first time being a Peer Mentor and I am so excited to help out and meet new people!

A lot of my work is inspired by my silly childhood memories that are evoked through using bright pastel colours, metaphors, and fun compositions. I also like to experiment with different mediums such as clay, gouache, pencil crayons, watercolour, and acrylic paint.

I would love to develop greater knowledge in digital art software to enhance my work, as I’ve always leaned towards traditional art. Furthermore, I am interested in building community through art and music, especially thinking of accessible, enjoyable, and engaging ways to connect with others.

I feel like I have learned how to do teamwork more efficiently through remote learning, as I worked with talented peers to create online singing performances for our OCAD U singing student group, O Cappella. It was incredible to see the creativity and what our group was capable of doing! I can’t wait to see what unfolds for us this year.

I look forward to growing as an artist, finding joy in the little things in life, and continue seeking out the best iced matcha lattes in the city!”
