WORKSHOPS: MAY 21 – MAY 28

  • People, Places, Things:

A Mobile Locative Mapping Workshop

This practical hands-on workshop will instruct participants in current narrative practices with locative mobile media, using Google Earth mapping tools. Cultural production is about people (both contemporary and historical); places (existing situations, and their connections with the past); and things (artifacts and archives). In this workshop participants will learn how to explore people, places, and things through the creation of personal narratives, in small collaborative groups. They will then visit and locate their stories in public space at a nearby local park, connecting with their potential audiences through mobile storytelling and interactive GPS mapping on Google Earth.

Workshop People:

Students, researchers, mobile business and industry stakeholders will increase their fluency with mobile narrative concepts, documentation techniques, and GPS mapping tools.

Workshop Places:

The workshop will be held in two locations:

OCAD University,  Mobile Experience Lab Rm. 7602 (6th Floor), 205 Richmond St W, Toronto, ON M5V 1V6 and at Grange Park adjacent to the OCAD U campus in Toronto.

Workshop Things:
