THE IODE GLADYS RAITER BURSARY $5,000 for Post-Graduate Study

To honour the memory of his wife Gladys, a member of the Queen Anne Chapter IODE, Kitchener, Norman Raiter bequeathed money to the IODE to establish this Bursary Fund.

  • Given to honour the memory of Gladys Raiter, a past IODE member from the Regional Municipality of Waterloo.
  • Awarded on the basis of academic standing and financial need.
  • Preference will be given to a post-graduate student whose family resides in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo,
    OR
  • to a student planning post-graduate study at the University of Waterloo or Wilfrid Laurier University.

THE BURSARY IS:

CONDITIONS:

  • Applicants must be a Canadian Citizen and hold an undergraduate degree from a recognized Canadian university.
  • Applicants will be considered:
    a) whose family resides in the Regional Municipality of Kitchener-Waterloo and the student is in post-graduate study locally or elsewhere in Canada
    OR
    b) the student is enrolled in a post-graduate degree programme at the University of Waterloo or Wilfrid Laurier University.

VALUE OF BURSARY: $5,000 to be paid in two installments.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS WHICH MUST ACCOMPANY APPLICATION:

  • List of all awards, scholarships, bursaries, grants or loans received during undergraduate study.
  • List of all awards, scholarships, bursaries, grants or loans received, expected or applied for in connection with the academic year to which bursary would apply.
  • Photocopy of government assistance.
  • Statement of career plans and personal goals.
  • Statement of extra-curricular interests and activities.
  • Certified copy of university academic transcripts.
  • Copy of proof of Canadian Citizenship
  • Three letters of reference: two from college or university faculty members familiar with the academic work of the applicant and one from a non-faculty contact.
  • Any other pertinent information that the candidate deems necessary to assist selection.

Note: BURSARY WINNER will be required to submit two photographs (for publicity purposes), head and shoulders only, approximately 10cm x 15cm.

GENERAL TERMS AND INFORMATION:

  • By submitting an application, each applicant agrees to abide and be bound by these terms and conditions of the Bursary Committee.
  • The bursary may be cancelled if applicant is found to have submitted any false or misleading information or during the period of the bursary, does not attain a satisfactory standing.
  • The IODE Gladys Raiter Bursary Committee will notify the successful applicant by May 31st. The applicant must then notify the Committee of their acceptance no later than June 15th.
