The Learning Zone

A new video exhibition by Joele Walinga, This day is exactly like yesterday, but without all of the excitement, or any event whatsoever is installed at External Space located in the Learning Zone until July 23rd.

Walinga edits together a compilation of moving images, people posing for pictures or going about their daily lives, scattered garbage and reflections. Using audio narratives “who is this?” and “I don’t understand what this is” gives the video an seamless quality, while examining a period of loneliness and isolation she was experiencing during the production of this video, as suggested in the title of this work, this day is exactly like yesterday, but without all of the excitement, or any event whatsoever.
