Congratulations to OCAD alumna Danya Ensing (’15) on her 2016 Fellowship Program project, Documenting Detroit. The program has partnered with the Detroit Institute of Arts to present a multimedia slideshow of 21 early career and emerging Detroit-area photographers. The slideshow was projected onto the southeast wall of the Detroit Institute of Arts.
Danya Ensing works largely with personal narratives, exploring her ontological relationship with home, environment, and landscape. The darkroom is her sanctuary – she has a skillful and accomplished knowledge of film and takes pride in processing and printing her own photographs whenever possible. Danya enjoys learning about and creating with the tactile through processes such as bookbinding, screen-printing, and letterpress. Exploring a variety of handmade processes challenges her creativity, encourages a deep understanding of craftsmanship, and diversifies her photographic practice. Her work has been exhibited internationally in New York, the UK, Sweden, and Japan.
