The f/6 Collective (OCADU’s IBPOC Photo Club) and the Photo Department are organizing an artist talk with Yasin Osman on March 29, 5-6pm, 113 McCaul (MCC), room 516.
Yasin Osman is an award-winning photographer and cartoonist for The New Yorker. Aside from drawing and taking photos the most important thing to Yasin is a photo mentorship program he started in 2015 called Shoot For Peace. The program was initially created to combat the increasing violence in Toronto and to offer an alternative option for youth wanting to pursue art. Since its inception the program has provided over a hundred youth with jobs, cameras and skills of lasting value. Shoot for Peace has also been recognized internationally by Buzzfeed, Upworthyand CNN. Through his photography Yasin has been recognized by the National Geographic and has shot campaigns for brands such as Nike, Google and The Toronto Raptors.
