How?
Using class meetings, video conferencing (sometimes very early in the morning) and online blogs/communication environments (currently Slack and Miro) and popular social networking tools, students will communicate and develop projects under the guidance of the instructors at each school. Scheduling will be flexible, responsive to the needs of the activities while much of the work will be done on the students’ individual time with their project partners using various platforms: Slack, Zoom, Miro, Skype, FaceBook, E-mail and other channels. Specific joint activities and projects will be articulated each year, based on specific partnerships and opportunities. There will be short-term objectives and deadlines over the 8 months of the course. It is important to note that the course structure consists of a flexible online meeting schedule and the class group will not meet every week, rather, more or less every other week.

CALL-FOR-SUBMISSIONS: KOLAB PROJECT X OCAD U: THE NEXT FOURTEEN DAYS
https://www.ocadu.ca/event/call-submissions-kolab-project-x-ocad-u-next-fourteen-days
OCAD U is excited to partner with Kolab Project to create an exclusive call for submissions from members of the OCAD U community. The Next Fourteen Days is a new initiative that will provide grants to realize 14 new projects, created by OCAD U students, recent alumni and also select faculty. These projects will document new work created over a period of 14 days in May 2020. Collectively and individually these works will speak to this time of physical distancing and self-isolation.
The Next Fourteen Days is an experiment in social connection. Using creative practice to bridge social distancing, this initiative has been developed in an effort to offer a reprieve from our collective isolation, to champion creativity and to support cultural production in these challenging times. The fourteen new works selected, along with the documentation of their making, will be featured online as short digital vignettes, with a goal of reaching as many people as possible.
Individual project grants of $1,000 each will be awarded by a jury made up of Kolab Project and OCAD U representatives. Recipients will be selected on the basis of a short project proposal, the strength of their portfolio of existing work and also a declaration of financial need. Proposals could potentially respond to themes such as connectedness, time, physical space or collaboration, but are not limited to these recommendations.
GRANT VALUE: Individual project grants of $1,000 each

REFRAMING HISTORIES: PHOTOGRAPHY IN SEQUENCE
WITH APRIL HICKOX
May 10th – 16th, 2020
APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 20th, 2020
This collaborative course, Reframing Histories: Photography in Sequence focuses on connections to the landscape, which embrace land use (urban and rural), sustainability, site-specific interactions, and personal relationships to the land.
Through the exploration of site and place, this studio-based photography course will propel participants to respond to a new environment while intertwining their personal areas of interest. During this seven-day experience, learners will be given a series projects asking them to respond using their personal cultural history or their experiences in Florence as inspiration. At the start of the session, each day will center around responding to a landmark in the city, including both the natural environment, historical sites and museums. The participants will have the opportunity to link the series of small assignments into a linked body of work or to use the tasks as a way to generate new directions for their creative practice.
Spaces are limited, submit your registration fee to reserve your space!
