Congratulations to 2015 Photo Program graduate Eve Gane for being selected for “More Decent Exposure” at the Living Arts Centre!  The exhibition, curated by Megan Press, is on until August 23, 2015.

Participating artists include:

Ashley Culver, Audrey D’Astous, Courtney Downman, An Dy, Eve Gane, Cassic Ho, Natalie Hunter, Mary Ma, Evelyn Sorochan – Ruland, Tammy Tang, Polina Teif, and Shellie Zhang.

MORE DECENT EXPOSURE is the culminating exhibition from a call for submissions to students and new graduates of post-secondary arts and design institutions. From over seventy entries by emerging artists, exhibition jurors short listed twelve applicants whose works represent new trends in contemporary practice across a wide range of disciplines. Acting as a window to the near-future of visual arts, the collection is an exciting and challenging application of new materials and ideas. This is the second exhibition of its kind, the first was DECENT EXPOSURE, 2012.

Eve Gane is a photo-based artist located in Toronto, Canada. She holds a BFA in Photography (2015) from OCAD University.

Her early exposure to metropolitan sites and environments stimulated her interest in finding enigmatic spaces in both the cityscape and landscapes of Ontario. Her work attempts to dissect aspects of everyday life that are not often questioned by exploring the small, subtle details that form commonplace objects and experiences. Gane’s intention is to create visual interruptions within her images that require viewers to ask questions and examine the “ordinary” sights all around them.

OCAD U & Timeraiser: May 30th

Timeraiser and OCAD University have come together to help support emerging artists, non-profit organizations, and promote civic engagement!  Timeraiser is a volunteer matching fair, a silent art auction, and a night out on the town. The big Timeraiser twist is rather than bid money on artwork, participants bid volunteer hours.

Come out to the Power Plant on May 30th to celebrate the 29 artists selected for this opportunity to bid your volunteer hours on stunning artworks!  Tickets for this event are $20.

Keep an eye out for current photography majors:

Throughout the evening, participants meet with various non-profit organizations in the room to find available skilled volunteer opportunities that meet their needs. Once matches are made, the bidding can begin. Winning bidders have 12 months to complete their pledge in order to bring the artwork home as a reminder of their goodwill.
